ACT 1
Scene 1 Eager to escape her Small home town, 80’s throwback ‘Alice’ finds herself on the city streets where she hopes to hit the big time and make a new life for herself. Day becomes night and the city becomes less appealing. Scene 2 Feeling isolated Alice latches onto a stranger (white rabbit) who lures her further into danger. Scene 3 Having no place else to go Alice follows the stranger to a downtown nightclub ‘The Hole’ where she discovers the dangers of alcohol that confuses her mind and leads her into a false sense of security and confidence. She soon begins to feel embarrassed and humiliated as her immaturity and lack of experience is exposed . Tearful and wretched (The Pool Of Tears) she is shunned by all of the clubbers except one (The mouse) who sympathises and offers a friendly hand once again lifting her spirits and helping her to regain her confidence. Sadly though this isn't the end as her previous confidant has other plans for her. He is on the look out for young girls to work on the streets and so introduces her to two potential clients (Tweedledum &Tweedledee) although they are pretty persuasive she manages to escape their clutches only to herself once again alone. Scene 4 She later comes across a harmless vagabond who offers her some ‘colourful Mushrooms’ that have a powerful narcotic effect, taking her on a strange fantasy trip.

ACT 2 Scene 1 Alice, still in her dream state embarks upon some strange street entertainers who, with their retro - style costume remind her of home and how times have moved on. Alice tells them of her plight and they tell her of a casino ‘Hearts’ where she may find some work. Scene 2 An encounter with a talking cat who gives who her some advice again drags up memories of where she has come from. Scene 3 Following up the lead about work Alice arrives at ‘Hearts’ which she soon discovers is run by harsh management (The Queen Of Hearts.) and strict rules. Employees are unhappy and she wonders whether she has made a huge mistake. Fortunately Alice makes two new friends (Gryphon & Mock Turtle) who keep her spirits up and help her realise that home maybe not so bad after all. An employee is accused of stealing some money and her fate is to be decided by the work council. Alice can see that the whole set up is fake and that all the evidence against the accused is unjustified. They are simply looking for a scapegoat to cover up someone else's mistakes. Alice realises then how much she has grown up since her arrival and how important it is to truthful to oneself.
